Papua New Guinea

New Guinea is divided into two continents – to the west is Papua and the east is Papua New Guinea referred to as PNG. In the centre of the country lies a high mountain range (the whole length of the continent), its highest mountain rises up to 4,800 feet above sea level. The country is lush with grass and tropical rainforests; coffee is grown by small farmers and large plantations.

Coffee in Papua is grown in Hoea, Tsinga, Moanemani and Kamu. In PNG coffee is grown in Goroka, Mt Hagen, Sigri and Madang. Arabica coffee is grown at altitude of 1,450 to 1,900 meters above sea level. New Guinea produces both Arabica and Robusta coffee.  Coffee is grown on both small farms and plantations; beans are organically grown using traditional methods and coffee is grown in the shade.

Harvest is from May to August.
