Honduras borders Guatemala in the north west; El Salvador lies south west and Nicaragua in the south east.  The continent has mountainous regions, running west to east and of a height of 9,000 feet above sea level. Although located in a tropical zone, temperatures are not high.

Coffee is grown on small farms in 15 provinces.  Coffee is classified according to altitude; SHG (strictly high grown) is coffee grown at 1,500 to 1,800 meters above sea level and HG (high grown) is coffee grown at 1,000 to 1,500 meters above sea level. 

Harvest is from November to March.
