Guatemala is situated north of Central America, bordering Mexico and Belize on the north and Honduras and El Salvador on the east. There are three main regions in Guatemala: cool high lands, the tropical area along the Pacific and Caribbean coasts and the tropical jungle in the north. Coffee is grown in Antigua, which is protected by its 3 volcanic mountains; Coban is a humid coffee growing area, due to the subtropical forest while in Huehuetenango, the exposure to the wet ocean weather and the dry, hot winds from Mexico, protect the coffee from frost.

Wet process used in the production of coffee, it’s a clean process and the bean looks brighter. Coffees are graded due to altitude levels and the highest grade is SHB (strictly hard bean), which is grown at 4,500+ feet above sea level. The next grading is HB (hard bean) which is grown at 4,000-4,500 feet above sea level.
